APP FOR THE WEEK PROGRAMME

 Report on “App for the Week” Programme


The IT Club and Natural Science Students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam jointly organised the programme “App for the Week” on 18th September 2025 at 9:30 am in the General Hall of the college.


The programme was conducted as part of the initiative to introduce useful mobile applications to students and to create awareness about their features and applications in daily life. On this occasion, the app Flo was introduced. The session was presented by Aswathi K P, who explained the functions, uses, and benefits of the app to the audience.


The event was co-ordinated by Dr. K. S. Sajan, Co-ordinator of the IT Club. The session was held under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, Principal in Charge.


The programme was well-received by the participants, as it provided valuable knowledge on the use of technology in improving lifestyle and health management.





REELS MAKING COMPETITION

 Report on Reels Making Competition – Onam 2K25

As part of the Onam 2K25 celebrations, the IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organised a Reels Making Competition for students. The competition was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Sajan K.S. (IT Club Coordinator) and Prof. Dr. Smitha R. (Principal in Charge), with        Vismaya Prasad K. (IT Club Secretary) and student coordinators Sumayya, Nithya, and Anusree ensuring smooth conduct.

The rules of the competition required each department to submit at least one entry, with a maximum of three entries permitted per department. The reels were to follow a semi-classical dance style, with a maximum duration of 60 seconds. All entries were submitted via WhatsApp before the deadline of 2nd September 2025, 4 pm.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various departments, showcasing the creativity and cultural spirit of the students. After careful evaluation, the winners were announced as follows:

  • First Prize: Krishna Veni S (Natural Science)

  • Second Prize: Pooja Vasanth (Social Science)

  • Third Prize: Nithya C (Mathematics)


Certificates were awarded to the winners as a mark of appreciation. The programme successfully highlighted the talent of students, celebrated the essence of Onam, and strengthened the spirit of cultural unity within the college.

                                                              

  

INTERCOLLEGIATE TEACHER'S DAY QUIZ COMPETITION

 

Report on the Intercollegiate Teachers’ Day Quiz Competition

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised an Intercollegiate Teachers’ Day Quiz Competition on September 5, 2025, in connection with Teachers’ Day celebrations. The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Principal (In-charge), Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, and the IT Club Coordinator, Dr. K. S. Sajan. The event was coordinated by the IT Club Student Secretary,          Vismaya Prasad K.

The competition was open to student teachers from various training colleges. Participation was completely free, and e-certificates were awarded to the winners. All student teachers were encouraged to join by creating a Wayground account before participating.

The quiz was designed to test the knowledge, presence of mind, and quick response skills of the participants. Several teams from different colleges took part in the competition, making it a vibrant and intellectually engaging event.

After a highly competitive session, the following participants emerged as winners:

  • First Prize: Hisana N

  • Second Prize: Harsha H Mohan (NSS Training College, Ottapalam)

  • Third Prize: Leya Susan Mathew (BSS B.Ed. Training College, Alathur)

The winners were congratulated and honoured with e-certificates. The event proved to be an enriching experience, fostering knowledge-sharing and healthy competition among student teachers from different institutions.

The Teachers’ Day Quiz was a grand success, thanks to the active participation of students, the dedicated efforts of the IT Club, and the support and guidance of the college authorities. The programme not only celebrated the spirit of Teachers’ Day but also highlighted the importance of collaborative learning and intellectual growth.

Report on APP for the Week – Math Tricks

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, in association with B.Ed. Mathematics optional students, organized the App for the Week programme on 12th September 2025 at 9.30 am in the General Hall.

The app featured in this session was “Math Tricks”, presented by Nithya C. The app demonstrated simple and interesting methods to solve mathematical problems quickly, such as shortcut techniques for multiplication. The presentation aimed to make mathematics easier, enjoyable, and more engaging for students.

The session was informative and interactive, helping participants to explore different tricks in solving mathematical problems effectively. It also encouraged students to adopt innovative approaches in learning and teaching mathematics.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. K. S. Sajan, Co-ordinator of the IT Club, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, Principal-in-Charge.

The event concluded successfully with positive feedback from the participants, who appreciated the usefulness of the app in enhancing mathematical skills.

IT Club Executive Meeting

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organized an Executive Meeting on Google Meet on 16th August at 7:00 PM.

The meeting was convened under the coordination of Dr. K. S. Sajan, who guided the proceedings. The primary objective of the meeting was to bring together all executive members of the IT Club to discuss important matters regarding the upcoming activities and future plans of the club.

During the session, various suggestions and ideas were presented by members to enhance the efficiency of the club and strengthen its activities. The meeting also provided a platform to address challenges and streamline the functioning of the executive body.

All the executive members actively participated in the discussions and contributed their views. The coordinator appreciated the commitment of the members and emphasized the importance of teamwork in ensuring the success of the IT Club.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to work collaboratively for the betterment of the club and its initiatives.





 

App for the Week Programme


The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, in collaboration with the 1st Year Malayalam optional students, organized the weekly programme “App for the Week” on 22nd August 2025. The event was conducted at 9:30 a.m. in the General Hall of the college.

The app selected for this week was Duolingo, a popular language learning application. The session was presented by Ms. Daya B, who gave a clear and interesting presentation on the features, uses, and benefits of Duolingo in improving language skills. She explained how the app can help students and teachers in learning new languages easily with the help of interactive lessons and activities.

The programme helped the students to understand the importance of using technology in education, especially in the field of language learning. It also encouraged them to explore and make use of such apps in their academic as well as personal growth.

The event was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. K. S. Sajan, Coordinator of the IT Club, with the overall support and encouragement of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, Principal-in-Charge.



The session was very informative and beneficial to all the participants.

IT CLUB INAVGURATION AND DIGITAL ORIENTATION PROGRAM



Inauguration and Digital Orientation of          IT Club

NSS Training College, Ottapalam

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organized its Inauguration and Digital Orientation Programme at 10:00 am in the College Auditorium. The event aimed to introduce the objectives of the IT Club, highlight its activities, and provide insights into various digital tools and resources that can support academic as well as professional growth.

The programme commenced with a Welcome Address by Vismaya, IT Club Secretary, who warmly greeted the dignitaries, teachers, and students. The official Inauguration was carried out by Dr. (Prof.) Smitha R, Principal In-Charge, who shared her thoughts on the relevance of technology and IT skills in modern education.

Following this, Nithya, IT Club Member, delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, and participants for their valuable presence and support.

The highlight of the programme was the Digital Orientation Session led by Dr. K. S. Sajan, Co-
ordinator of the IT Club
. The session provided a detailed introduction to the club’s goals, digital learning resources, and tools that could enhance both academic and professional competencies of students.

The IT Club meeting was held on 6/8/2025 at General Hall from 12.30pm . The session was presided over by Dr. K. S. Sajan and attended by representatives from each class. 

The meeting began with a welcome address, followed by a set of instructions.Also Vismaya of Natural science was choosen as secretary for IT club. Members discussed ongoing projects, including updates on progress, and proposed new ideas like App of the week, which was finalized . Steps on how to start a blog and how to post in blog were discussed. Plans for upcoming events were finalized, with responsibilities assigned to specific members. A short technical knowledge-sharing session was also conducted, where participants exchanged ideas on emerging IT trends. Other topics included suggestions for improving club participation and proposals for new initiatives. 

The meeting concluded at 1:00pm.

REPORT ON “APP FOR THE WEEK” PROGRAMME

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, in association with the 1st Year English Optional students, organised the “App for the Week” programme on 8th August 2025 at 9:30 a.m. in the General Hall. The app featured for the week was Quizlet, an interactive learning platform widely used for creating and sharing study materials.

The session was presented by Ms. Krishnapriya C. K., who gave an engaging and informative demonstration of the app’s features. She explained how Quizlet could be used for enhancing teaching-learning processes, especially in creating flashcards, quizzes, and collaborative learning tools.The presentation also included how Quizlet app can be used to:
- Master key subjects with flashcards and quizzes
- Revise smarter with interactive mock tests 
- Turn class notes into personalised study guides and practice questions
 The presentation included a live demonstration of creating study sets, utilising the “Learn” and “Test” modes, and exploring gamified learning activities.

The event was attended by faculty members, student-teachers, and members of the IT Club. Participants actively interacted during the session, asking questions and sharing ideas about how Quizlet could be integrated into classroom practices. The programme successfully achieved its aim of familiarising students and teachers with innovative educational technology tools.

The event was coordinated by Dr. K. S. Sajan, IT Club Co-ordinator, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R., Principal-in-Charge. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, appreciating the resource person for her effective presentation and the audience for their enthusiastic participation.
