APP FOR THE WEEK PROGRAMME

Programme: App for the Week
App Introduced: NotebookLM (Gemini Notebook)

Introduction
The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, in association with First Year B.Ed Natural Science students, organised the “App for the Week” programme. 
The programme introduced the AI-powered application “NotebookLM”. The session aimed to familiarise student teachers with the use of source-grounded artificial intelligence for academic learning, research, and effective organisation of study materials.

Objectives

• Introduce NotebookLM as a useful educational AI tool
• Help student teachers organise and study their learning materials effectively
• Promote the use of artificial intelligence for academic research and productivity
• Encourage the use of digital tools for self-learning and note-taking

Programme Details

The programme started with a brief introduction about the purpose of the “App for the Week” initiative. 
The session was compered by Chandrika G. 
Haritha H presented the application “NotebookLM”.
During the presentation, the presenter explained the features of the application. She demonstrated how the app helps learners interact with their own documents through AI-generated summaries, instant question-answering, document comparison, and automatic study guides. She also explained how students can use the application to synthesise complex research, organise study materials, and explore textbooks in depth.

A demonstration was conducted using a laptop. Students observed how to create a notebook, upload source documents such as PDFs and Google Docs, and interact with the AI chat interface.


 


Examples of generating an Audio Overview, Video Overview, Quiz, Flashcards, and Mind Map from uploaded notes were shown. The presenter also highlighted that NotebookLM provides source-grounded responses based on the uploaded materials, making it useful for academic learning and research.

Outcome

• Students understood the importance of source-grounded AI tools in academic research
• Participants learned how to upload study materials and generate summaries using NotebookLM
• The session promoted the use of artificial intelligence for productivity and note-taking
• Students showed interest in using digital research assistants to improve study efficiency

Conclusion

The programme successfully introduced NotebookLM as a useful AI-powered learning and research tool. The practical demonstration helped participants understand how the application can be used to organise, analyse, and study their own learning materials. The session encouraged student teachers to explore AI-based digital tools for academic learning and their future teaching practices.

ICT ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Programme: ICT Orientation Programme for 2026–28 Batch
Participants: Newly admitted B.Ed. and M.Ed. students

The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, organised the ICT Orientation Programme for the 2026–28 batch of B.Ed. and M.Ed. students on 15 September 2026 in the General Hall. Attendance was mandatory for the newly admitted students.

The programme focused on familiarising students with the college’s digital platforms and how to use them effectively. The orientation included an introduction to the college Learning Management System (LMS), enrolment of students in the LMS, orientation to the college’s official digital and social media platforms, and guidelines for accessing and using these platforms. Students were instructed to bring their admission numbers for completing the enrolment process.

The programme commenced with Prayer and Acharya Vandanam. Dr. Aswathy K.S., IT Club Member, delivered the welcome address. The programme was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar K., Principal in Charge. Dr. K.S. Sajan, IT Club Coordinator, served as the Resource Person. Felicitations were offered by Dr. Anu S. and Ms. Seema C., both IT Club Members. Dr. Lekshmi V., IT Club Member, delivered the vote of thanks.

The programme provided the newly admitted students with an orientation to the college’s principal digital learning and communication platforms and outlined the procedures for accessing and using them. The accompanying photograph records the programme in progress at the General Hall.

APP FOR THE WEEK PROGRAMME

 The IT Club of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organized an “App for the Week” programme in collaboration with the 1st year B.Ed English students. The objective of the programme was to introduce useful mobile applications that can support learning and improve students’ digital skills.

In this week’s session, the application Vocabulary Builder was introduced. The app helps users improve their English vocabulary through daily words, quizzes, and interactive exercises. It is a useful tool for students who want to enhance their language skills and communication ability.

The programme was presented by Shravya S, who clearly explained the features and benefits of the application. She also demonstrated h

ow the app can be used effectively for learning new words and improving language proficiency.

The programme was compered by A. Remsiya, who coordinated the session smoothly. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. K. Sajan, Coordinator of the IT Club, and Prof. (Dr.) Suresh Kumar K, Principal in charge.

The session was informative and beneficial for the students. It helped them become aware of digital learning tools that can support their academic development.

SUPW Workshop





On 6th March 2026, our college conducted a SUPW Workshop as part of the B.Ed curriculum. The first session focused on paper file making, led by Dr. Anu S, who demonstrated the process and guided students to create impressive files with precision.


In the second session, students formed small groups and worked on products of their choice, showcasing their creativity and skills. The event was a huge success and left a lasting impression on everyone involved .
